Certified Virtual Wound and Ostomy Nurse
Remote Position

Under the direction of the Corstrata Vice President of Clinical Services, the staff Telewound and Ostomy Nurse  serves as a clinical resource and consultant for the virtual assessment of patients with selected  disorders of the gastrointestinal, genitourinary, and integumentary systems (e.g. draining wounds, ostomies, fistulae, dermal ulcers, tubes, etc). The Wound and Ostomy Nurse should be  prepared to provide the full scope of Wound and Ostomy nursing practice, including patient and clinical education and patient counseling.

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • BS or BSN (required)

  • Two to four years of recent, relevant nursing experience

 

LICENSURE AND BOARD CERTIFICATION

  • Current unencumbered RN license to practice Nursing in the state of residence and other states of  licensure 

  • Required to obtain nursing licenses in additional states as necessary 

  • Required to maintain current and ongoing certification by the Wound,  Ostomy, Continence Nursing Certification Board (WOCNCB) or the American Board of Wound  Management (ABWM).

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • This position requires periods of sitting or standing at a computer station. 

  • Measures to create an ergonomically friendly workspace are essential for functionality and  physical well being.

 

TECHNOLOGY & SKILL REQUIREMENTS

  • Access to broadband internet - You will need sufficient bandwidth to transmit audio and video data. Internet speeds should be at least 30Mbps download and 8Mbps upload. 

  • Hardware - You will need hardware that is no older than 5 years old.

    • A computer or smart device will be necessary. Examples of acceptable devices are: desktop computers,  laptops, or smart tablets.

    • An integrated or external microphone and camera will also be required. Most smart devices and computers  have a built-in microphone and camera that will be adequate.

      • If the desktop computer, laptop or smart device does not have an integrated or external microphone or camera, you will not meet the necessary technology requirements for the position. Camera specs need to be at a minimum of 1080p and 60fps.

  • Computer operating systems - a Mac or Windows Operating system is required. 

    • Mac requirements - MacOS X with macOS 10.9 or later

    • Windows requirements - Windows 7 or higher

  • Technology skills - Basic knowledge and skills in using technology, such as accessing the Internet and making a purchase online are required

    • This includes: web navigation, Microsoft Word processing, email basics, video conferencing, and computer security knowledge

  • Privacy and confidentiality -  Maintaining the privacy and confidentiality of our patients requires  awareness and compliance with the privacy and confidentiality rules of data exchange.

    • Patient information is to remain secure on the Corstrata Platform and never downloaded or saved to a personal computer and/or device.
